On behalf of the William M. Raines National Alumni Association (WMRNAA) Board of Directors, we are honored and excited for the opportunity to serve the Viking Nation!
-Venus Highsmith,
President, WMRNAA Board of Directors
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, the WMRNAA remains steadfast in its dedication of giving back to Raines and students, to unifying our alumni, and to preserving the rich legacy of our alma mater. Our pride in William M. Raines High School runs deep, and today, we have more reasons than ever to celebrate.
We are incredibly proud of the educational strides Raines continues to make. For nine consecutive years, the school has maintained a graduation rate of over 90%—reaching an extraordinary 99% for the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, Raines has earned an impressive "B" grade for two years running.
Our excellence extends beyond the classroom and onto the field, highlighted by our Vikings winning the 2025 State 3A Football Championship. These achievements, along with many others, remind us that the spirit of excellence that Dr. Andrew A. Robinson Jr. instilled in Vikings early on is alive and well.
This success fuels our mission. The WMRNAA has significantly increased its fundraising efforts, allowing us to award 10 or more scholarships annually to deserving students. Whether they are heading to college for the first time or need a critical "bridge" to fill the financial gap, we are committed to ensuring our students have the resources to succeed.
Our impact is felt throughout the year through initiatives such as:
As graduates, we are the keepers of the flame. We are responsible for keeping Raines relevant and preserving the history, pride, and traditions that shaped us. We continue to host alumni activities to keep us unified, informed, and focused on our shared goals.
Raines has produced many outstanding Vikings who have excelled on the world stage. It is our job to tell their stories as we continue to write the story of William Marion Raines High School. However, we cannot do this alone. We are actively seeking dedicated Vikings to serve on our committees and establish new business partnerships.
There are many areas where you can get involved because, truly, it takes a village. Let us always remember the standard instilled in us by Dr. Andrew Robinson Jr.: We are Ichiban, #1!
Sincerely,
Venus Highsmith
